Herning, Denmark, came alive in early September as the city welcomed EuroSkills 2025—a gathering that has become Europe’s beating heart for vocational excellence. Over five action-packed days, more than 100,000 visitors witnessed 597 talented competitors from 32 countries push the limits of their crafts in 38 skill contests.
Among the sparks and whirring machines, CNC Milling took center stage, captivating crowds with its fusion of precision engineering and digital innovation. This year, EuroSkills was more than a competition: it was a testament to how CNC machinists are shaping the future of European industry, one precisely cut part at a time.
A Greener Future Takes Center Stage
Guided by the theme “Skilled for a Greener Future,” EuroSkills 2025 emphasized the role of vocational skills in driving sustainability. To further this message, the Skilled Greener Future Park and Green Mission treasure hunt invited attendees to explore how all trades can contribute to Europe’s green transition. From eco-conscious carpentry to sustainable pâtisserie practices, competitors demonstrated how innovation and craftsmanship can shape a resilient future. Moreover, these activities highlighted the essential role of trades in building a sustainable tomorrow.
Spotlight on Loris Cubizolles: Mastering the Art of CNC with Mastercam

At EuroSkills 2025, Loris Cubizolles did not just win gold in CNC Milling — he redefined what excellence looks like in digital manufacturing. Representing France, Loris earned the prestigious Jos de Goey Best in Europe Award for achieving the highest overall score among nearly 600 competitors.
A graduate of Lycée Clément-Ader in Samatan, Loris brought a rare combination of technical precision and creative problem-solving to the competition floor. Notably, central to his success was his advanced command of Mastercam. He used it to design complex toolpaths, optimize machining strategies, and reduce cycle times, all while maintaining micron-level accuracy!
“Mastercam was my secret weapon,” Loris explains. “It allowed me to simulate every step, troubleshoot in advance, and push the limits of what I could achieve on the machine.”
His fluency with Mastercam not only gave him a competitive edge, but it also showcased how digital tools are transforming traditional trades. Loris’s performance is a powerful reminder that today’s skilled professionals are as much digital engineers as they are hands-on makers.
Looking ahead to new challenges, Loris continues to inspire future machinists by demonstrating how craftsmanship and advanced CNC technology go hand in hand. Currently, he works for Mastercam Channel Partner, 3IDM, where he encourages emerging talent to push the boundaries of precision engineering. As a result, his influence extends well beyond the competition floor.

Unforgettable Experiences
Held at MCH Messecenter Herning, the venue buzzed with energy as visitors explored Try-a-Skill zones, attended Silent Stage talks, and engaged with over 100 exhibitors. Additionally, the vibrant atmosphere fostered connections and collaboration among attendees.
The event drew high-profile attention, including a royal visit from H.M. The King of Denmark, and a gathering of European education ministers who signed the Herning Declaration, committing to strengthening vocational education across the EU. Furthermore, this declaration aims to attract more youth to skilled professions and align training with labor market needs.
Looking Ahead
EuroSkills 2025 was more than just a competition; rather, it was a showcase for the precision and innovation driving the CNC machining industry across Europe. The event brought together the next generation of CNC specialists, highlighting their expertise and commitment to excellence. As the focus shifts toward EuroSkills Düsseldorf 2027, the achievements in Herning will continue to shape the future of CNC training and inspire even greater technical mastery.
