Mastercam Sponsors SME Prime Schools
Mastercam has joined a coalition of organizations across the country supporting PRIME (Partnership Response in Manufacturing Education). This program created and fosters strong partnerships between organizations, businesses, and exemplary schools to provide a more comprehensive, community-based approach to manufacturing education.
Schools are selected for the program based on having excellent manufacturing curriculum, skilled and dedicated instructors, engaged and active students, strong corporate or administrative support from the manufacturing community, and member involvement from local SME chapters.
SME Education Foundation funding provides each PRIME school with equipment upgrades, software, professional development, tools to participate in an after-school technology competition tied to organizations such as SkillsUSA and/or FIRST Robotics, and scholarship opportunities for students. Additionally, they provide funding and guidance to host the Gateway Academy, a STEM-based (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) summer day camp for middle school students.
The new Mastercam/CNC Software, Inc. award will provide design and machining software to the new PRIME schools designated in the 2012-2013 academic year as well as the original six PRIME schools. CNC Software is also providing tuition-free training to instructors at PRIME schools.
