Mastercam Reseller Profile – Q&A with Mastercam India
Mastercam India Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2016, is storming the CAM market in South Asia and the Middle East. According to Vineet Seth, Managing Director, the company is comprised of an experienced team of well-established professionals from sales, marketing, technical, and channel expertise gained in the Indian CAM market over many years.
The company has since launched a monthly customer newsletter highlighting customer successes with Mastercam and a quarterly magazine, Mastercam Notes which details the software’s benefits and use in the region. They have also partnered with TDM Systems, a subsidiary of Sandvik Coromant, focusing on software for managing the entire tool data lifecycle.
We talked with Daniel Raravi, Director of Marketing at Mastercam India, to find out more about their market, their successes, and their dedication to the manufacturing industry.
Q. When was your business started?
A. Mastercam India started operations on the first of October in 2016, with its first office at the World Trade Centre, in Pune.
Q. Since when have you sold Mastercam?
A. We have been selling Mastercam since we started in October of 2016.
Q. What territory does Mastercam India serve?
A: Mastercam India sells and supports the Mastercam family of products in the South Asia and Middle East regions. We have offices across seven major industrial cities in India: Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Ahmedabad, Ludhiana, and Kolhapur. In addition to these direct offices, we have around 30 Resellers in the South Asia and Middle East regions.
Q. Do you have any Mastercam Reseller awards?
A: At the 2019 Mastercam Reseller Conference in Ledyard, Connecticut, Mastercam India was given two awards: #1 Worldwide New Customers for 2018 and Top Five International Growth for 2018.
Q. What Mastercam services do you offer customers?
A. We offer training to customers who purchase the software, call-in support, and on-site visits when necessary.
Q. What’s the latest, most exciting customer application you have?
A. Mastercam India customers range from the likes of large aerospace & automotive customers to small and medium enterprises. Our customer applications include complex multiaxis flying / non-flying parts, including some produced by the National Space Research organization, through to simple feature-based components.
A recent, most exciting customer application was the complex multitasking machining of a high-pressure compressor rotor shaft of a turbine engine. On the other side, a first-generation entrepreneur also designed, modeled, detailed, programmed, machined, and assembled small, complex plastic injection moulds using only Mastercam.
Q. What’s your favorite feature in Mastercam?

Q. What are you looking forward to?
A. Mastercam is widely recognized as the pioneer of CAM. Our goal is to re-establish Mastercam as the top CAM software in our region; communicate that Mastercam is now slick, feature-loaded, and is supported by a local team of experts, who live and breathe CAM!
Q. What industries do you serve?
A. We serve the aerospace & defense, automotive, die-mould, white goods & appliances, heavy engineering, medical, woodworking, sheet metal processing and general machining sectors. We also proudly promote Mastercam to academia, with a presence at over 1,000 institutes in India.
Q. What are some challenges/opportunities you find that are unique to your region?
A. India and the Middle East are the major areas for business in our region. Challenges include pricing, large competitive presence, rampant piracy, and significant cultural differences from region to region, amongst others. On the brighter side, this is a growing market, that provides enough opportunities—even during the times of a perceived slow-down.
Further, buyers here look for stability of organization, prompt support, and of course, a top-of-the-line product. Thankfully, by our experience and the teamwork with Mastercam corporate, we are now on a journey to be become the CAM system of choice in the region.
Q. What are some unique issues that you can solve by being a local support hub for Mastercam?
A. We cater to a large geography. In our business, if we do not respond promptly, a customer stands to lose money every minute their CNC machine is not producing chips! Being local, with our offices and support staff in all major industrial cities, allows us to respond in record time to our customers and ensure that their work continues without any delay or disruption whatsoever.
Mastercam India employs sales and technical staff that are spread across the length and breadth of the region; we collectively communicate in over 12 different languages. Our engineers are enriched with CAM experience and have a common goal to delight our customers.
Being sensitive to regional cultures, knowing buying patterns of customers, assisting them with their pain areas, and making them a part of the Mastercam global community is what we achieve with our local presence in the region.
Q. What’s your value-added by being a local representative?
A. The Mastercam India team brings years of experience of local market, dedication to a business that is niche, industry relations that are as old as the CAM business in the region itself, and a network of long-standing Resellers who are as committed to the cause as we are.
Being technocratic in our approach, we provide in-depth technical as well as business/market intelligence to Mastercam corporate. This allows us to continually impact the product direction, brand value and overall revenue from the Mastercam business.
Q. Do you sell any other products besides Mastercam?
A. No, we only sell and support the Mastercam family of products, including products that are built on top of Mastercam—namely, VerisurfÒ and RobotmasterÒ.
