Mastercam Education Summit 2019
Educators from various regions of North America gathered recently for three days of presentations, industry discourse, networking, and hands-on training. This was the second annual Mastercam Education Summit hosted at CNC Software headquarters in Tolland, Connecticut. The event was planned to enable direct collaboration and dialogue about the needs of the educational community and the benefits of Mastercam curriculum in schools from junior high through professional development.
According to Education Product Manager Peter Mancini, “The purpose of Education Summit is to connect with teachers. We want to learn how we can better support their efforts to bring CAD/CAM curriculum into our classrooms, share recent developments in our software and curriculum offerings, and stay in tune with our network of users. We welcome these educators as part of our extended Mastercam family.”
Mastercam Education Summit 2019 kicked off with introductions and remarks from Mancini and President and CEO Meghan West, followed by tours of CNC Software headquarters led by Mastercam founders Mark and Brian Summers. The three-day summit included sessions about training, marketing, post processors, and more.
Attendees were able to choose hands-on training from two options. The first was an advanced track led by an Applications Engineer from the Mastercam Manufacturing Lab. The second was a project-based learning module from the Mastercam Quick Part Series led by Training Manager, Keith Butzgy.
One additional focus of Education Summit was to help instructors find affordable ways to inspire students to take an interest in CAD, CAM, engineering, and manufacturing such as participation in skills programs and competitions. Mastercam partners with several organizations, like WorldSkills and SAE International, and sponsors participation in numerous competitions with free software and support.
The second annual Mastercam Education Summit was a big success, with a nice boost in attendance over the inaugural session. After three-days of networking with such a great group of educators, we are already looking forward to next year!
