Mastercam Celebrates Manufacturing Day

Each year, Mastercam celebrates Manufacturing Day by opening our doors to our neighboring community to explore our headquarters in Tolland, Connecticut, and learn about what we do. This year, eight schools with about 180 people had the chance to tour our facility and learn about how our company develops software for the global manufacturing community.

Manufacturing Day in Machine Shop

Visitors were welcomed for two-hour tours that including a presentation in our training room by Chad Chmura, a Mastercam applications engineer. Chad talked about CNC Software and Mastercam, along with demonstrating what it takes to take a part from design to manufacture and how our CAD/CAM software fits into that process.

A tour of our onsite Manufacturing Lab was included, with six machines running parts. One of the machines was running the part Chad used to present with, so attendees could really see the process of bringing a concept through the design and manufacturing stages using Mastercam.

A careers panel was a fantastic aspect of this year’s Manufacturing Day event, with representatives from seven departments available to discuss how our software is used in education and industry for manufacturing purposes, what it is like to work at a software company, what they do individually, and how they contribute to the overall development and support of Mastercam.

Finally, our visitors were treated to a UConn FSAE presentation and pizza lunch. The UConn team talked about what they do and how Mastercam has helped them to compete against other schools. It was exciting to see their car in action!

Thank you to everyone that made this year’s MFG Day a great success at Mastercam headquarters. This is a great event, but the need for education and outreach about the benefits of manufacturing is every day. Check out to learn more!
