Mastercam sponsors SAE International student design competitions by providing free software and educational support to participating teams. Robert Burghart, Team Captain of Highlander Racing at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), recently shared some information about the teams recent season of competition.
Highlander Racing includes about thirty-five students. The team competed at BAJA Oregon and placed 17th in the Oregon Cost Event, 14th in Oregon Acceleration, and 14th in the Oregon Hill Climb. At BAJA Kansas, the team placed 8th in the endurance race, 3rd in Kansas Sales Presentation, and 19th in Kansas Acceleration.
Robert shared, “Mastercam is excellent software for preparing parts for manufacturing! We used Mastercam to create splines and involute teeth to create DXF files for Wire EDM cutting our gears for a new gearbox. It has proven to be the best software we have access to for the task.”
