If you need something to restore your faith in the future, this note sent in by Adam Dewey, should do the trick. Adam is the Purdue University Formula SAE Drivetrain Lead. He wrote a message to our Educational Programs manager to provide an update on the team and share their appreciation for Mastercam’s support of Purdue students participating in FSAE competition in consideration of the impact of Covid-19 on this year’s competition. Here is an excerpt.
As you may have guessed, the in-person Formula SAE competition was canceled for this year, along with all of the dynamic events due to Covid-19. This was extremely disappointing, because we have achieved all of our design and manufacturing goals for the season. We had begun testing on March 1st and were on track to achieve our testing timeline goals. We wanted to make the best of the situation, so we spent our extra time away from campus preparing for the virtual competition.
I wanted to reach out and thank you for your sponsorship this year, as regardless of the circumstances, this is without a doubt the best formula car Purdue has ever produced. We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with your help, and the future looks very bright.
We will be constructing a new car for the 2021 season and hope that you will be able to support us and our passion again when the time comes. We are continuing to use Mastercam for all of our CNC machining and are hopeful that the machine shops at Purdue can remain open so we can get our members experience with CAM and the machining process.
I hope that you, your friends, and family are doing well and staying safe during these uncertain times. Once again, on the behalf of all of us at Purdue Formula SAE, thank you.

The team made the following parts for their 2020 car using Mastercam:
- Differential mounts
- Rear sprocket
- Wheel uprights
- Wheel hubs
- Wheel nuts
- Brake rotors
- Aero molds
