Throughout the years instructors have had to keep up with changing technology in order to ensure that their students graduate with the skills and practical experience to work in the real world. He and his team have created a curriculum that is considered a national model for machining education by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Science Foundation, both of which asked him to develop a sensible curriculum that could be disseminated across North America in a way everyone could understand. Bollinger sent his ideas regarding the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/fr\/solutions\/\">CAD\/CAM and CNC machining<\/a> portions to them for distribution to roughly 600 different companies to critique. \u201cIt allowed us to get a rounded idea of what these companies wanted,\u201d said Bollinger.   <\/p>\n\n<p>M. Students don\u2019t move into the computer lab until the first two courses are completed. The Basic Principles\/Machine Tech class uses the manual machines to teach the principles of milling operations while Intro to CNC and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/solutions\/wire\/\">EDM<\/a>, teaches students how to set up and operate CNC machine tools.<\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1-768x576.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1-112x84.jpeg 112w, https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/SDTeachingAtTheMachine-1024x768-1-224x168.jpeg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n<p>The Intro to CAD\/CAM class takes the students into the computer lab and introduces them to CAD\/CAM programming using 80 seats of Mastercam\u00ae software. \u201cThe students are basically using Mastercam to generate code,\u201d said Bollinger, \u201cbut the curriculum also gets into contours, pockets, hole drilling, tapping and reaming, along with all the associated working files that go with those operations.\u201d The introductory class teaches the types of CAD\/CAM work students will find in actual job shops. Students then attend lab classes with extended lab hours which include videos for each of the projects, all of which are found on Bollinger\u2019s web page. \u201cFollowing this,\u201d said Bollinger, \u201cwe go deeper into machining. Their first project or two utilizes hand coding and we teach them to use macros and loops and how to integrate their CAD\/CAM programs into a project. And then we introduce them to 4-axis programming, as well as Mastercam\u2019s Dynamic Milling to achieve faster, more efficient metal cutting operations. By teaching them both regular tool paths and Dynamic tool paths, we\u2019re making them more marketable when they leave us. Bollinger. Les \u00e9tudiants re\u00e7oivent la <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mastercam.com\/solutions\/home-learning-edition\/\">Mastercam Learning Edition de d\u00e9monstration et d&rsquo;apprentissage \u00e0 domicile<\/a>. Ils apprennent \u00e9galement l&rsquo;impression 3D en s\u00e9lectionnant leurs parcours d&rsquo;outils et en d\u00e9coupant la pi\u00e8ce dans Mastercam en tant que mod\u00e8le solide. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un processus de v\u00e9rification, le programme est sauvegard\u00e9 sous forme de fichier .STL et charg\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;une des imprimantes 3D. Cette op\u00e9ration de prototypage rapide permet aux \u00e9tudiants de voir, en plastique, \u00e0 quoi ressemblera la pi\u00e8ce lorsqu&rsquo;elle sera usin\u00e9e en m\u00e9tal sur l&rsquo;une des fraiseuses CNC.<\/p>\n\n<p>Les instructeurs con\u00e7oivent des projets comportant des trous perc\u00e9s et des trous al\u00e9s\u00e9s, des taraudages, des poches et des contournages, et \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s tout ce qui peut \u00eatre programm\u00e9 dans Mastercam et usin\u00e9 sur une fraiseuse \u00e0 commande num\u00e9rique. \u00ab\u00a0Nous continuons \u00e0 utiliser Mastercam parce que c&rsquo;est ce que l&rsquo;industrie utilise. Lorsque nos \u00e9tudiants apprendront \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser les projets pr\u00e9vus dans notre programme, ils seront en mesure d&rsquo;effectuer les m\u00eames op\u00e9rations sur n&rsquo;importe quel projet du monde r\u00e9el\u00a0\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 M.
