Mastercam Training
All Mastercam Authorized Resellers have professional, comprehensive training solutions for their Mastercam customers. Be sure to check with them for your local training options.
CNC Software offers online corporate training (must be purchased through authorized resellers) at MastercamU.com. This online video training lets you learn at your own pace and can be used to prepare for the official Mastercam Certification.
CNC Software also provides training on all our CAD/CAM products, through both our industrial and educational corporate offices. Course descriptions and schedules for industrial training through CNC Software are shown below.
We also offer a series of Mastercam tutorials.
- Getting Started tutorials introduce general Mastercam functions and
teach basic skills.
- Focus tutorials cover specific Mastercam featuresfor example,
Setup Sheets or FBM Drill.
- Exploring tutorials concentrate on a single Mastercam productfor
example, Mastercam® for SolidWorks®.
Our tutorials are in continual development, and modules are added for each release.
For information and availability, please contact your local Mastercam Reseller.

Description |
Application Days |
TBA |
$550/day per person includes lunch |
Application day(s) are to help you with those tough jobs (multiaxis, mill/turn, lathe, mill, router, and wire) that leave you wondering how to begin programming a job or is there a better way to cut this. Pick the number of days that you want to attend. We will have our application experts ready to help you with your part file. Be sure to bring your part files with you.
Prerequisite: Users taking this class must be Mastercam customers with current maintenance on their sim(s). They must have knowledge of CNC programming and machining. Everything taught and or demonstrated will be on the current Mastercam version. |
Transition to X |
TBA |
$249/day per person includes lunch |
This one day class will cover Mastercam basics, such as Design and Transition from previous versions. This class is designed to help current Mastercam customers recreate their current work environment — and their current jobs and parts — as quickly as possible. The class will introduce the new interface with emphasis on how to customize it to help you work efficiently. We will explain new CAD functionality. And we will show you how to use familiar toolpaths and explore the new toolpaths functions. |
Router |
TBA |
$450/day per person includes lunch |
This class will start with an overview of all Router specific functionalities available in Mastercam , such as aggregate definition and configuration, drill block and horizontal block programming, an introduction to profile tool definition, nesting, and engraving, followed by hands-on examples. Users taking this class should have some general knowledge of geometry creation and toolpath generation in Mastercam. A basic understanding of Mastercam’s Machine and Control Definition would also be helpful. |
Art |
TBA |
$450/day per person includes lunch |
This class will start with an overview of all the current functionalities in Mastercam ART, including base surface creation, 3D relief creation, toolpath generation, and advanced features followed by hands-on examples. New features included with the MR1 upgrade will be discussed in detail. Users taking this class should have some general knowledge of CNC machining and some basic computer skills. |
HST |
TBA |
$450/day per person includes lunch |
This one-day course focuses on the creation of 3D toolpaths and 3D geometry construction using Mastercam's new high-speed surface toolpaths (HST). It is designed for users of Mastercam Mill Level 3. Students will learn the concepts behind Mastercam's new HST toolpaths and the advantages they offer. We will compare these new toolpaths to other advanced Mill Level 3 toolpaths and discuss the strong points of each. HST toolpaths are the future of 3D milling. These machining practices not only increase speed, but also decrease stress on spindles and ways. High speed machining results in faster, smoother, more robust toolpaths. It is quickly becoming a standard technique for increasing productivity. We strongly suggest that all students have prior Mill Level 3 surface machining experience and have attended the Advanced Mill class. Prerequisites: Mastercam Mill Basic training class or equivalent experience with surface toolpaths. |
Lathe |
TBA |
$450/day per person includes lunch |
Mastercam Lathe can be used to program machines ranging from single-turret, single-spindle lathes up to twin-turret, twin-spindle mill-turn machines with B-axis capabilities. This class will begin with machine and job setup features such as machine definition, defining and setting up lathe tools, and setting up stock and chucks. You will then learn how to program operations such as 2D turning, canned turning operations, C-axis programming for live tooling, and miscellaneous operations such as stock transfer and stock flip. Prerequisites: Mastercam Design or Mill Basic training class or familiarity with the design functions in Mastercam. |
Basic Posts |
October 11 - 13, 2011
8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
|
$450/day per person includes lunch |
This class covers basic aspects of post configuration, variable definitions, formatting, post lines, boolean operations, post text, modality, control definition, and more. Prerequisite: Users taking this class should understand Mastercam, G-Code programming, and have some knowledge of a higher level programming language including variable types, variable declaration, and boolean logic such as 'if', 'else', and 'while' statements. An understanding of Machine and Control Definition is also required. Click here for a PDF that explains the Machine and Control Definition topics that should be known before taking this course. |
Multiaxis at the CNC Machine |
TBA
|
$550/day per person includes lunch |
This two day Multiaxis class will offer hands on training using a trunion table 5 axis CNC machine tool. It will cover best practices with Mastercam and your machine tool. How to find and set the zero of your 5-axis machine tool. Machine tool parameters that effect 5 axis toolpaths. The attendees are encouraged to bring their own parts so toolpaths can be applied to the parts. Prerequisites: Mastercam multiaxis training or equivalent experience with multiaxis programming. |
Multiaxis |
TBA
|
$550/day per person includes lunch |
This will be a 4 day multiaxis class. The first 2 days will be spent reviewing the multiaxis toolpaths. There will be several hours spent on a 5 axis CNC machine. The Mastercam Multiaxis class will introduce the concepts and principles of multiaxis machining. Topics covered include: Identify common multi-axis machine tool configurations; Understand the difference between multiaxis positioning and simultaneous toolpaths; Understand the different types of multi-axis toolpaths, and capabilities and advantages they provide over conventional 3 axis toolpaths; Machine simulation options will be reviewed. Prerequisites: Mastercam advanced mill training class or familiarity with mill or router programming using Mastercam. |
