How do I use Zip2Go to submit files to Technical Support?
Click here to see a video about using
the Zip2Go utility.
Mastercam X includes a powerful new utility called Zip2Go. Use
it when you have been asked by Technical Support to supply a copy
of your part file for troubleshooting or support purposes. It will
create a zip file which contains your part file and all supporting
files, such as a copy of your post processor, machine and control
definitions, and configuration files. It will also automatically
create reports about your part and your Mastercam workstation
to further assist Technical Support. If you have been asked to send
a file to either CNC Software Technical Support or to your Mastercam
Reseller, follow these steps.
- If necessary, start Mastercam and open the part file.
- Select Settings, Run user application from the menu (or press [Alt+C]). Open the zip2go folder and select zip2go.dll.
- If this is your first time using Zip2Go, tell Mastercam where to save the zip file. Select Configure from the menu and set the desired path.
- Select the type of data to be included in the zip file.
- The Machine group types list will display all the of the machine types used in the part file. You can choose to include only the data pertaining to a certain machine type.
- The File options list displays different types of files to include. Mastercam will include a copy of the selected files in the zip file. If you don't select any file types, Mastercam will still create a zip file which contains the part file, machine and control definitions, and the reports.
- Click Create Zip2Go. Mastercam creates a zipped file with a .Z2G extension in your selected folder.
- Choose File, Mail Archive from the menu. Your default email program will load with the Z2G file automatically attached to a blank message.
Note:
- Select the Toolpaths option in File options to include the NC files referenced in the Toolpath Manager. You must have already posted and saved the NC file to use this option. Zip2Go will only include NC files whose name matches the one in the Toolpath Manager; if you save the NC file to a different name, Zip2Go will not be able to include it.

- Zip2Go also includes many other features and functions for viewing, editing, and managing previously created Z2G files. Click the Help button in the Zip2Go main window to learn more about its other features.
- Zip2Go automatically creates files with a .Z2G extension. However, you can open them and extract files using other common compression utilities such as WinZip™.
