How do I change the name of my NC file?

In Mastercam X2 you set the default name of the NC file in Settings, Configuration, Toolpath Manager properties.

Use one of the following methods to override this setting for one or more selected operations.

Changing the NC file name using the Toolpath Manager right-click menu

You can create a separate name for one or more operations within the machine group / toolpath group. Select one or more operations in the Toolpath Manager list. Then right-click and choose Edit selected operations, Change NC file name.

Every time you post the selected operations, Mastercam uses the NC file name that you entered instead of the file name in the Settings, Configuration, Toolpath Manager properties page.

Changing the NC file name when you post operations

Just like in earlier versions of Mastercam, you can choose to be prompted to enter a file name when posting. Select the Ask option in the Post processing dialog box.

Mastercam will prompt you to enter an NC file name. If you have selected more than one operation for posting, and some of the operations have different default names in the Toolpath Manager, then you will be prompted for each different file name.
