Certification Levels
Mastercam Certification™ is a rigorous set of practical tests that demonstrate a programmer’s ability to work effectively with CAM software, overcome common issues facing today’s shops, and produce high quality finished parts. Programmers completing Mastercam Certification™ carry with them a useful means of quickly proving their skill in an increasingly demanding industry.
Mastercam Certification™ was developed by a board made up of some of the most respected names in industrial CNC training. After developing definitions, standards, and tests that would apply across most industries, the board separated the certification into several components, each focusing on different aspect of manufacturing.
Available Mastercam Certification™ |
| MILL - CPgmM |
Geared to 2D machining. The certification test part will be programmed on all six sides. The applicant will be required to generate all the necessary geometry from a shop drawing. Generate a G-code program all six sides with six unique names and all of the necessary setup information. This is a timed test. |
| LATHE - CPgmL |
Geared to turning The applicant will be required to generate all the necessary geometry from a shop drawing. Generate a G-code program to cut the part including some basic live tooling operations. All support setup information must also be created within the designated timed test. |
| Academic CpgmM and CpgmT |
The academic versions of Mastercam Certification require passing the same certification practical exam and standards as the industrial versions of certification. The Academic version is only available from a Mastercam Certified Instructor as part of their program. A person who receives this level of certification has also passed the appropriate Mastercam U Curriculum as part of their training and certification. |

| Mastercam for SolidWorks |
This Certification exam will cover some geometry associativity. A component will be programmed and then the geometry will be modified in the model and the toolpath shall be able to be regenerated without modification to parameters or settings. |
