Concept Components of Bohemia, NY did not need to switch over to a new CAM system. As an American Machinist Top 10 Job Shop, the company was already doing very well. However, Concept Components' President, Jim McGuigan, wanted to further the shop's CAM productivity and multiaxis machining capabilities. In 2008, the National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC) decided that it would be useful to have its own prototype part manufacturing capabilities to reduce lead times and establish greater control of manufacturing processes for critical parts.
