Mastercam “Rings True” by Giving Artists Greater Creativity

What started off as a hobby has become a thriving business for Bob Hendricks, president of Hendricks Manufacturing. Located in Salt Lake City, UT, Hendricks Manufacturing utilizes Mastercam Art’s ability to create beautifully intricate rings, pendants, and pins.

A Mastercam user since 1996 (with Mastercam Version 5), and a jeweler since the seventies, Bob Hendricks has established a thorough knowledge of Mastercam. “In 1996, I took a night class at a high school which was introducing Mastercam Version 5. At the time, I had only one machine and was looking for a CAD/CAM package to purchase. I had tried a variety of different products, but Mastercam proved to be the software I needed to get the job done.”

Hendricks was so impressed with the Mastercam suite of products that he decided to write a curriculum for high schools using Mastercam. Hendricks’ prior training in the Educational field helped him write the materials. “I chose Mastercam when I asked a Mastercam representative about a special need I had for making school class rings during a demonstration. Every other software company I had spoken to implied their software could fulfill this particular requirement, but no one could actually demo it for me. Five minutes later, the Mastercam representative had what I needed on his screen and I was sold.”

Continuing in the quest for innovation, accuracy, and precision, Hendricks has now started using the latest Mastercam product, Art. Mastercam Art combines an artist’s eye with a computer’s ease and allows users to sculpt organic shapes quickly and easily. Hendricks notes, “The best part about Masteram art is that it does what is says it’s going to do! It’s quick, it’s easy, and the final outcome is always astounding.”
