What's New in Mastercam X3 Mill
Mastercam X3 introduces many new features and enhancements that expand machining flexibility and increase speed and automation. This article describes the main features. To see more, please visit the links at the end of the article.

Feature Based Machining (FBM) – FBM delivers a powerful way to automatically mill and drill solid models. FBM evaluates a part’s features and automatically creates an effective machining strategy. The time savings when using FBM are dramatic, but its power isn’t only in the click-and-go ease. All toolpaths are editable after creation which gives you the flexibility to make changes at any time, and ensures your parts will be cut exactly as you want them.
2D High Speed Machining – High speed machining has traditionally been available in Mastercam’s 3D machining suite. Mastercam X3 introduces a suite of 2D High Speed Toolpaths (HST) that includes six toolpaths optimized for high speed machining and hard milling. These new toolpaths can make your current processes more efficient and automated, while minimizing programming and cycle times.
Multiaxis Machining – The Port5ax and Flow5ax toolpaths include a new feature that allows an overlap or blend to be added at the beginning and end of a toolpath. This feature is useful in creating better finishes where toolpaths may need to meet from opposite directions. General speed improvements have also been made, and TrueSolids 5-axis verify is now included in Mastercam’s multiaxis machining.
Engraving – Mastercam’s Engraving application is now a standard feature in Mastercam Mill Level 1 or higher.

Mastercam’s New Mini Sites for X3
In an effort to be more “green”, CNC Software has significantly reduced the size of its printed brochures. You will notice when you get a Mastercam brochure that the content has been streamlined in an effort to reduce waste.
To take advantage of the internet’s world wide accessibility and its ability to provide multimedia and the latest product news and information, we have decided to expand our online information.
With the launch of Mastercam X3, every Mastercam product will have its own dedicated Web site where you can view all available information for a given Mastercam product. For example, Mastercam Mill information will be found on www.mastercammill.com. Lathe information will be located at www.mastercamlathe.com, etc.
Each product Web site will be packed with full technical data, screen shots, graphics, multimedia videos, and more. Making the information available online will also allow us to keep it up to date with the latest product enhancements.
We hope you like the new mini sites, which aim to provide you with all the product information you are looking for!
