In Depth: Mastercam’s Dynamic Milling

For the next few months, we will be exploring some of Mastercam’s newest features in greater depth. In this issue, we will be looking at Dynamic Milling – what it is and how it can improve your bottom line.

Dynamic Mill is a new 2D High Speed Toolpath that was released in X4. It gives you the ability to utilize the entire flute length of the cutting tool, while maintaining more consistent cutting conditions. This new technique saves cutting time while reducing wear on your tooling and machines.

Dynamic Mill offers a number of customizable options including “micro lift” retracts that avoid excess heat buildup and powerful entry methods, including a custom entry method that allows it to program complex shapes. Both these options support custom feeds and speeds to further enhance productivity and generate safe motion.

Another advantage of Dynamic Milling is that it offers flexible retract options to keep the tool down in smaller parts and supports rapid retract on larger parts.

Mastercam is Named #1 CAD/CAM for the 15th Straight Year

The most recent analysis of CAM software seats produced by CIMdata, Inc. (an independent research firm) shows that CNC Software’s Mastercam is once again the world’s most widely-used CAM software for the 15th straight year.

With over 147,000 installed seats worldwide, Mastercam has more than twice the installed base of the closest competitor.

There isn’t a better way to show off Mastercam software than with slick, cool looking customer parts!

We are on the lookout for parts to display in our corporate Mastercam tradeshow booth.

If you have any parts that you think would look great in our booth, you could get a cool prize for sending them to us! In addition to sending the parts, we also need you to fill out the Parts Consent Form.

If you send us a part, you will automatically get a Mastercam keychain. If we end up using your part at tradeshows, you will get an iPod Nano as our way of saying thank you for helping us gather parts that show off Mastercam’s features and toolpaths.

Mastercam LIVE Hit the Streets

A majority of the rollouts for Mastercam X4 took place throughout the month of June and the response has been amazing! Resellers all around the world held local rollouts for their customers and prospects, and many had to do multiple sessions because the turn out was so big.

Everyone learned about the new features of Mastercam X4 including Multi-threading, Dynamic Machining, Mastercam for SolidWorks, and much more.
