Multiaxis machining can dramatically increase a shop’s competitiveness, and Mastercam’s multiaxis add-in offers a wide range of multiaxis machining strategies – both basic and advanced. Here are a few new things that have been enhanced and added to the Mastercam X3 package.

The Port5ax and Flow5ax toolpaths include a new feature that allows an overlap or blend to be added at the beginning and end of a toolpath.

This feature is very useful in creating better finishes where toolpaths may need to meet from opposite directions.

A new tab page called Edges has been added that contains several options for controlling the start and end of a port or flowline multiaxis toolpath. Options include skipping the first pass, last pass, or both, and blending the entry, exit, or both.

General speed improvements have also been made in Mastercam’s multiaxis machining.

TrueSolids 5-axis verify is now included with Mastercam’s Multiaxis machining.

This past week at the PRI show in Orlando, FL, the Mastercam sponsored Jim Cunningham ProStock Ford Mustang was a very large draw, and created quite a buzz for us on the show floor. It is the only Ford Mustang in the ProStock class, and in the upper echelon of the NHRA racing classes (ProStock, Funny Car, Top Fuel) it is one of only a few Fords racing. The well known John Force Racing Team is another Ford that Mastercam sponsors, which races in the Funny Car class. Both of these partnerships create a large amount of exposure for Mastercam and not only Ford and Mustang enthusiasts, but the entire NHRA as well.
